After a break from the spotlight to work on their highly-anticipated sophomore album, The 1975 are back with a new single, and it’s definitely not what you would expect. Incorporating even more 80’s pop/rock sounds, Love Me is a dramatic development for the band. Reminiscent of bands like Aerosmith and Duran Duran, mixed with a bit (a lot) of David Bowie, Love Me blurs the line between pop and rock, with a bit of funk thrown in, and pulls it off seamlessly. Having once described their upcoming album as a lot ‘happier’ than their first, it’s clear to see why. Following in the lead of the band’s up-beat hit Girls, as opposed to the moodier tunes that made up a lot of their self-titled debut, it is going to be very interesting to see just what is to come from the British four-piece. Fact is, The 1975 have never sounded better than they do right now.
Love Me, out now.
I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, the upcoming album, is out in February.
